UKRAINE KYIV PAVILION 'YARMAROK'
The Ukraine Kyiv pavilion is proud to showcase the rich and vibrant folklore of the Ukrainian YARMAROK.
Long before dawn, peasants got out of the villages on foot or on carts and dragged themselves in a long line to the place of the fair. We went to the fair as if for a big holiday – beautifully dressed, in a good mood. The fair lasted for several days and was a place of comradery, commerce, and good will for people from different and sometimes remote areas. So, it is natural that each fair was not only a marketplace, but also a place for entertainment.
Generosity being a cornerstone custom of the YARMAROK, our pavilion proceeds will be used to support displaced Ukrainians relocating to Manitoba.
About Our Pavillon
Ukraine Kyiv Pavilion has been part of Folklorama since the beginning of the festival in 1970. Each year, the Pavilion continues to contribute to Folklorama’s goals of celebrating diversity and promoting cultural understanding.
Ukraine Kyiv Pavilion’s sponsoring organization is the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Manitoba Provincial Council. Each year the Ukraine Kyiv Pavilion organizing team/committee executes a new and vibrant experience for pavilion guests. This is accomplished by constantly changing themes with which we focus on showcasing, cuisine, music, cultural displays, and an educational component of the pavilion for guests to experience. Creating a new and different pavilion guest experience from year to year, results in our pavilion being consistently one of the largest and most popular Folklorama pavilions, with an average attendance of over 10,000 guests annually.
The Pavilion is extremely grateful for the support that it receives from both individuals and organizations within the Ukrainian community.
